Best Cellaring Wines Under $20

It’s not just reds that are suited to cellaring and you don’t even need a cellar; you just need a room or garage which isn’t going to suffer big temperature changes. We found over 30 terrific cellaring wines under $20. Check out 3 of them.

1. Leeuwin Art Series Riesling 2013 – $18 at Jim’s Cellars.  Leeuwin Estate makes austere Rieslings of great purity, with pristine line and length. 3- 10 years.

2. The Thomas Wines Braemore Semillon 2012 is about the best young Hunter Semillon going, rated at 97 by JH, 96 by JP and 95 by the Winefront. You can buy it for $25 at Kemenys, and it will most likely improve for a decade or 2.

3. Teusner the Gentleman Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 – $19 at Jim’s Cellars. This is my favourite red among all of Kym Teusner’s reds, cassis, pencil shavings and a sprig of mint. No shortage of flavour but polished and elegant despite the 14.5% alcohol.
